Officer – Population Health and Community Development (Identified Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander Role)

The opportunity

WAAC are looking for a passionate and community-driven professional to join our team as an Officer – Population Health and Community Development. This is a special measure position under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA), and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

In this role, you will support the development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative, evidence-based community development projects that promote LGBTIQA+SB inclusion and help build safer, more supportive environments. The role will also contribute to health promotion initiatives focused on HIV, blood-borne viruses (BBVs), and sexually transmissible infections (STIs). While the primary focus will be working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, you will also engage with other populations.

Reporting to the Coordinator – Population Health and Community Development, your work will include:

  • Engaging with sector organisations and communities
  • Building internal and external partnerships
  • Identifying and addressing learning needs within target workforces and communities

Maximum term contract up to 30 June 2027, with potential to extend.

Position – 0.8 FTE (with potential to increase to 1.0 FTE)

About you

You are a skilled, seriously passionate and qualified individual with experience working on a variety of health promotion projects involving diverse communities including People Living with HIV, LGBTIQA+SB, First Nations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people.

You are an awesome and unique individual. Your past involvement in not-for-profit community services sectors will be viewed favourably, ideally with experience in the delivery of sexual health and blood-borne virus services.
